Manufacture & Standardization of Drugs
Understanding homeopathic medicine preparation and quality
How Homeopathic Medicines Are Made
Homeopathic medicines are prepared through a process called potentization — a combination of serial dilution and succussion (vigorous shaking). The raw materials come from three kingdoms: plant, animal, and mineral.
The dilution process removes the material substance while retaining (or enhancing) the therapeutic properties of the original substance. This is the principle of the “minimum dose” in homeopathy. Potencies range from low (3C, 6C, 30C) to high (200C, 1M, 10M), each with different therapeutic applications.
Source Material
Raw materials from plants (e.g., Arnica), minerals (e.g., Sulphur), or animal sources (e.g., Apis mel) are carefully sourced and verified.
Dilution
The material is serially diluted in alcohol or water — 1:10 (X scale) or 1:100 (C scale) — following precise pharmacopeial standards.
Succussion
Between each dilution step, the remedy is vigorously shaken (succussed) to transfer the energy pattern of the substance to the diluent.
Quality & Standardization
In India, homeopathic medicines are regulated under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and the Homoeopathic Pharmacopoeia of India. Reputable manufacturers follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) ensuring purity, potency, and safety.
Dr. Nanduri prescribes remedies from established, GMP-certified homeopathic manufacturers to ensure consistent quality and therapeutic efficacy.
Our Treatment Evaluation Process
After the questionnaire is filled out, Dr. Nanduri evaluates whether the patient can be helped homeopathically. Once the decision to begin treatment is mutually taken, a comprehensive plan is drawn covering:
- Duration of treatment
- Medicines to be taken and their potencies
- Dietary guidelines
- Payment procedures
- Follow-up schedule
